CSX continues to add “bests” to its industry leadership in hiring veterans and supporting the military.
The U.S. Veterans Magazine has named CSX to its Best of the Best Top Veteran-Friendly Companies list for the second year in row, and a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) survey has identified CSX as one of the nation’s most-successful employers of veterans.
In addition, MilitaryTimes has released its annual Best for Vets: Employers ranking, with CSX appearing in 44th position, far ahead of the next Class I railroad on the list and third among the all transportation companies included in the ranking.
This year’s MilitaryTimes survey included 144 employers, making it the most prominent annual public ranking of its kind. Participating companies responded to nearly 100 questions detailing their policies and practices related to recruitment and retention of veterans; support for the men and women who continue to serve in the reserves; and efforts to foster a corporate culture that helps veterans to grow and succeed.
CSX’s recognition by the VA stemmed from a 50-state survey performed by the department to identify successful employers of veterans in each state. CSX was cited by the Florida VA for positive contributions to the veteran community, in addition to being a leading employer. You can read the VA’s findings here. Also, the Association of American Defense Communities reported on the survey here, specifically mentioning CSX.
CSX employs thousands of veterans, active-duty military and first responders, which is the result of the company’s veteran recruitment activities. CSX connects with local veterans’ employment representatives, student veteran groups, professional military associations and veterans’ service organizations.
In addition to attracting top talent from the military community, CSX works hard to support and retain veterans. The CSX Pride in Service community investment initiative that supports veterans, active military and first responders and their families demonstrates the value that CSX places on the men and women who serve our country and our communities. The company also supports reserve and national guard employees who deploy to serve the country.
